Funeral services for Cleva Pearl McBroom were Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Silver City Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Cleva was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Pulaski County, Missouri. Cleva was the daughter of Charlie Parker and Katie Donny (McClary) Posten. At the age of one Cleva moved with her family to the small community of Cottonwood south of Mannford. Cleva attended the Cottonwood School and completed the 8th grade at Sand Creek School. She was then united in marriage to Walter Day McBroom on Dec. 25, 1936, at the Justice of the Peace in Olive. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to California. During their marriage, Cleva and Walter moved between California and the Olive area before moving to Silver City in 1946. In the late 1960's, Cleva worked for Munsingwear in Hominy for a short time and then accepted employment at the Cushing Hospital. She also worked at the Drumright Hospital as a nurse's aide before working at St. Francis Hospital for several years.

Cleva loved to crochet, sew as well as taking meticulous care of her flowers. Mrs. McBroom has been a life long member of the Silver City Free Will Baptist Church.

On Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, Cleva Pearl McBroom went to be with her Lord and Saviour at her home in Mannford following a stroke at the age of 90 years , two months and 22 days.

Survivors are her three loving children, Mary Louise and her husband Bob Leon Haskins of Silver City; Patsy Evelyn and her husband Larry Chandler of Mannford; Roger and his wife Myrna McBroom of Drumright; nine grandchildren, Leon Haskins, Dale Haskins, Tanya Badger, Chris Coker, Debra Cloud, Bruce Chandler, Paul Haskins, Angie Beadle, R.D. McBroom,; 20 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Cleva was preceded in death by her husband Walter Day McBroom, four brothers Arthur, Clayton, Leo and George; and five sisters, Mary Jane, Bessie, Ida, Crochia and Clara.
